A superbly rendered portrait of a horse c1950, by the listed English equestrian artist Ninetta Butterworth; a handsome horse painted with fine detail, the painting sits in its original gilt wood round frame.
Ninetta was born in Jersey, England and began drawing horses at the age of four, she is entirely self taught. Horses and dogs became the focus of her career and she went on to become a respected artist & member of the Society of Equestrian Artists whom she frequently exhibited with. In 1951 she exhibited at the Fores Gallery in Bond St, and from 1955 her paintings became a popular print series.
