A captivating & atmospheric 19th Century French landscape of a boatman on a countryside river.

Oil on canvas with original side studding to the stretcher, signed lower right, L Heiny(?).

Exquisite original gilt wood frame.

To the back of the stretcher, the wonderful company logo of an anchor with a caduceus & the initials LF; from the French colourmen Lefranc & Cie, founded in 1836 they were one of the first providers within France for artists colours & supplies and still in operation today, under the name Lefranc & Bourgeois.

Measures including frame: 59cm high, 71cm wide.
