Born in South Australia, Giles was a painter of seascapes and landscapes who studied in Adelaide under Will Ashton and in Sydney with J.S Watkins. He exhibited with the Art Society of NSW and is represented  in the Art Gallery of NSW collections.

Oil on board, signed lower right J Giles. The painting sits in a wooden white washed frame.
